About Pinecone Mental Health Pediatrics

At Pinecone Mental Health Pediatrics, my passion is diagnosing and treating pediatric mental health conditions in and around San Antonio, TX including Devine, Hondo, Dilley, Cotulla, Lytle, Pearsall, and Laredo. When working with a child or teen struggling with mental health issues, I ask detailed questions to uncover specific information that may lead to overlooked diagnoses, driven by my meticulous approach. I believe in empowering children and teens to actively participate in their treatment by sharing their own feedback about symptoms and medications during appointments. This involvement helps them feel more in control, reduces frustration with medications, and builds the confidence to advocate for their needs as they grow. Input from children, even young ones, is invaluable alongside observations from parents and teachers. As a pediatrician, I also love connecting with kids by embracing my playful side!

Telehealth

Telehealth, also known as Telemedicine, offers the convenience of virtual visits, allowing you to access mental health diagnoses and appropriate medication for your child or teen without the need to travel. While telehealth appointments are highly convenient, they do have some limitations. A physical exam cannot be performed remotely, which means additional steps may be required to obtain key measurements such as your child's height, weight, or blood pressure. If these measurements are necessary, they will be discussed during the appointment.

ADHD & Aggression

Aggression can stem from underlying disorders like untreated ADHD, which is often misunderstood as just hyperactivity or trouble focusing. In reality, ADHD can cause irritability, low frustration tolerance, and sudden outbursts, sometimes mistaken for Bipolar Disorder. These behaviors result from brain function issues affecting focus and regulation. ADHD is a real, genetic condition, not an excuse for "bad behavior," and requires proper understanding and treatment to support those affected.
