About Pinecone Mental Health Pediatrics

Searching for ADHD medication for your teen? At Pinecone Mental Health Pediatrics, I specialize in diagnosing and managing pediatric mental health conditions including ADHD evaluation and treatment. I serve families across the greater San Antonio area, including Uvalde, Devine, Hondo, Dilley, Cotulla, Lytle, Pearsall, and Laredo.

I take a thoughtful, comprehensive approach to care, looking beyond surface symptoms to identify underlying concerns that may otherwise go unnoticed. During appointments, I invite children and teens to openly share their experiences with symptoms and medications. This collaborative approach empowers them, eases frustration, and helps build the confidence they need to advocate for their own health as they grow.

Input from children—along with valuable perspectives from parents and teachers—is key to developing a well-rounded, individualized treatment plan. As a pediatrician, I also strive to connect with kids at their level, making each visit not only meaningful, but engaging, supportive, and positive.

Join Our Practice

To become a new patient, please call Pinecone Mental Health Pediatrics during regular office hours to request a new patient intake packet. You will receive a secure link from Intake Q to complete the forms online, upload the required documents, and submit them. Once submitted, our team will contact you within 1–2 business days to schedule two 1-hour intake appointments: the first with parents/guardians only, and the second including the child or teen (for very young children or special circumstances, both may be combined into a single session). All appointments are currently conducted via Telehealth.

Telehealth

Telehealth, or telemedicine, provides a convenient “virtual visit” that allows your child or teen to receive a mental health evaluation and appropriate medication without the need to travel. While these appointments are highly accessible, they do have limitations—such as the inability to perform a physical exam remotely—and in some cases, alternative methods may be needed to obtain important measurements like height, weight, or blood pressure. Any necessary steps will be discussed during the appointment. Learn more about the telehealth services we offer.

ADHD & Aggression

If you’re exploring ADHD medication for your teen, my first priority is to conduct a thorough evaluation to determine whether medication is truly appropriate and necessary. Aggression in children and teens is often a sign of an underlying condition, and ADHD is one of the most common causes—particularly when it is untreated or undertreated. ADHD is more than difficulty with focus. It can also present as irritability, low frustration tolerance, and sudden emotional outbursts that may sometimes be mistaken for bipolar disorder. Aggressive behaviors can range from mild defiance to more severe physical reactions, and they may overlap with other conditions. Contact me for more details on evaluating your teenager.
